Solar Powered Ski Lift

Monday, May 24th, 2010

There’s a tiny little village in Switzerland with with renewable energy ideas! The little village of Tenna is truly tiny, just over a hundred people call this place home. Tenna makes it’s place on the world map by announcing that it’s creating a solar powered ski life, the second in the world.

The Tenna project panels will be placed on top of the drag list and will be adjustable (to help with snow and ice buildup as well as orientation to the sun).

The solar farm will generate approximately 90,000 kWh per year, but only 22,000 kWh will be needed for the operation of the lift, with the surplus electricity to be sold and exported to the mains grid.
