Undermount

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

I still have the original stainless steel kitchen sink that was in my house when I bought it. It’s lasted forever (and a day). When I finally get around to completely remodeling the kitchen, well I will replace it. Not because it’s worn out but because I’d want a new shiny model to match the rest of the kitchen.

These days you can find all different kinds of sinks. I’ve seen a few homes of friends where they’ve remodeled their kitchens and gone with some of the new styles and materials. Did you know you can get sinks made of 100% environmentally friendly components? The new Granite Kitchen Sinks are scratch resistant, stain proof (IMPORTANT) and sound dampening. Get this – you germphobics – these new granite sinks are also coated in bacteria killing silver ions which kill 99% of bacteria on contact. :)

I love the farm kitchen trough sink look, but knowing me, I’d probably end up choosing something a little more timeless. Like another top of the line stainless model. Only this time, I’m going for an undermount.

Why?

Think about it – you wipe spills off the counter-top straight into the sink, crumbs, liquid, the whole mess and it all goes into the sink. No more grime around the lip because there is no lip!

I love innovation!
