Oregonians Set for Solar

Those lucky Oregonians!

Sanyo Electric has a new solar facility in Salem, Oregon. The building has active solar. They’ve developed a pricier form of solar panels, but one that’s certain to catch on with the environmentally friendly. These solar panels are black to absorb sunlight, and placed between TWO sheets of glass making them available to catch the sun’s rays from either side. This makes them cost more, but makes them double efficient.

The wafer plant opened this week and employs about a hundred people and plans to add an additional hundred or so by spring.

Sanyo Solar of Oregon’s unique technology is the key to their success. Lots of places manufacture solar panels, but their uniqueness should pay off in the long run for investors and customers. The Oregon plant plans to create about 350,000 200 watt solar panels per year with possible expansion.
