What’s the Green Solution to ADHD?

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

Before you decide to pursue medication for your child with ADHD why not try some natural alternative therapies?

Some kids have had their ADHD lightened or reversed by utilizing these natural therapies. Why not try them?

So many foodstuffs these days are laden with chemicals, processed heavily, filled with colors and preservatives. Try a more natural diet. Get rid of any foods with added colors, preservatives, and added sugars. Try shopping the outer rim of your grocery store. These are where the less processed foods reside.

Try natural supplementation. Add omega 3 fatty acid supplements, like cod liver oil. They make some these days that don’t have the taste of yesterdays.

Get those kiddos moving. Play, run, jump, just plain old exercise.

Some herbs have been touted to be beneficial in the fight against ADHD too. Herbs like chamomile have calming properties.

If all else fails, be sure to talk to your physician about a more natural adhd treatment such as homeopathic medicines.

Buy Classics

Monday, May 11th, 2009

No, not classical music, classic clothing.

Classically styled clothing will last you more than a couple of seasons making them a great value. Anytime you can wear something for years, well, you’re saving resources, and therefore it’s a green solution to our clothing costs. Clothing costs impact not only our wallet but our natural resources as well.

A good classic set to begin with is a black blazer, a black skirt, and a black pair of slacks, as well as a good pair of black leather shoes with a mid heel height. Mid heel heights can be worn with both slacks and a skirt.

Once you have these three basic pieces you merely add in a few ‘extras’ and you’ll have clothing you can wear for years.

Pair the black blazer with the skirt and you get a dress suit.

Pair the black blazer with the slacks and you get a dress pantsuit.

Mix in a couple of complimentary blouses or tops and you begin to have a mix and match wardrobe.

You can wear a bright top or tee with the slacks for a dress down casual day.

You can add a fancy dress blouse with the slacks for night time wear.

Wear the blazer and the slacks with a camisole for the office.

Wear the blazer with a tee and jeans for a casual Friday look.

Get the idea? It’s a virtual wardrobe in itself! Save money, save your closet space, save our resources. It’s a real ‘green’ solution.

Is train travel the new green solution?

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

Not in Oklahoma anyway.

Public transportation is fine IF you live in a place that has a good public transportation system. Now Oklahoma Citys is OK IF you live along a bus route. Keep in mind, Oklahoma City is huge, second in size only to Jacksonville Florida. Here, youll find us spread out a good twenty plus miles in each direction. Were a good 600 square miles! Thats a lot of driving any way you look at it.train tracks

The train? The train goes from downtown Oklahoma City to Ft Worth. The first stop south is a suburb, Norman. The schedule, as far as I can tell starts in OKC then goes south, then turns around and comes back. So, conceivably, one could live near downtown and work in Norman, but only if you dont have to be at work til after 9am or want to return home until after 9 the same day. Just wont work for most people.

Thats why almost everyone in Oklahoma drives themselves to work.

Not very green is it?
