Dry Time for Horse Stalls

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

Did you know that there’s a new environmentally friendly resource for horse stalls? There is and it’s made from recycled cardboard!

It’s called DryTime. It’s a brown, all natural product made from 100% recycled materials. Made to keep your horses bedding clean and comfortable. It’s created with Absorba-Fresh Technology that allows it to absorb moisture from the bottom up, keeping your horse dryer. Can be used alone or mixed with shavings. There’s even a colored version, available in green, burgundy or purple, sure to make your stall stand out from the crowd at horse shows!

It may be available where you buy horse supplies – or you can visit their website at www.flextraninc.com

Horses are majestic creatures and in my opinion deserve the best.

Keds shoes go green. No they haven’t created a line of elf and leprechaun shoes, and no high-tops for the Jolly Green Giant. They have come up with a line of shoes made with all ec0-friendly materials, such as 100% organic cotton, recycled rubber, nontoxic water based glues and nontoxic inks and dyes. An added plus is that these shoes are sold in 100% post consumer waste packaging.

Keds also partnered with the Arbor Day Foundation. Each pair of Green Label Keds sold will get a tree planted!

Eco-Friendly Fabric

Friday, February 13th, 2009

I received a postcard in the mail from a company trying to sell me a big banner for my business. I just almost tossed it when I noticed the words “Eco-Friendly”.  That caught my attention!

Seems there’s a whole new earth-friendly material that trade show and other banners are created with. That eco-friendly material? Recycled soda bottles.soda bottles

This new fabric is of the non-woven variety and made completely from recycled soda bottles.

This new eco-friendly fabric has the capacity to keep about 3 billion plastic PET soda bottles out of the world’s landfills each year, saving over 1/2 million barrels of oil and eliminating 400,000 tons of harmful air emissions. The amount of petroleum saved by using post-consumer bottles instead of virgin materials in the manufacturing process annually is enough to supply power to a large city.

It takes about 700 years for a soda bottle to break down in a landfill. Help keep these bottles out of landfills by buying items made with recycled bottles, like a trade show banner.

(The company that sent me the postcard was bannercreations.com .  While I’m not in the market for a banner, I’ll certainly remember them when I need one!)
