I still have the original stainless steel kitchen sink that was in my house when I bought it. It’s lasted forever (and a day). When I finally get around to completely remodeling the kitchen, well I will replace it. Not because it’s worn out but because I’d want a new shiny model to match the rest of the kitchen.
These days you can find all different kinds of sinks. I’ve seen a few homes of friends where they’ve remodeled their kitchens and gone with some of the new styles and materials. Did you know you can get sinks made of 100% environmentally friendly components? The new Granite Kitchen Sinks are scratch resistant, stain proof (IMPORTANT) and sound dampening. Get this – you germphobics – these new granite sinks are also coated in bacteria killing silver ions which kill 99% of bacteria on contact.
I love the farm kitchen trough sink look, but knowing me, I’d probably end up choosing something a little more timeless. Like another top of the line stainless model. Only this time, I’m going for an undermount.
Why?
Think about it – you wipe spills off the counter-top straight into the sink, crumbs, liquid, the whole mess and it all goes into the sink. No more grime around the lip because there is no lip!
I love innovation!

Solar panels inside?
We’ve all seen the little gizmos that sit on peoples desks that run on a tiny solar panel. But have you seen the indoor solar panels built by U.S. based Solaroad Technologies? They fit on top of the cubicle partitions and harvest wasted energy from the office lights.
Electronic devices could then be plugged directly into the CubeTube and it’s battery banks make it useful as an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) with enough on tap when fully charged to run a work station for a few hours.
With the device being inside and out of the weather, it should operate at high efficiency.
Wonder how long before they become a staple at the office?
