Mars, the chocolate candy manufacturing company turned on 28,000 solar panels this week. The sun shone brightly and is sending solar power direct into the Mars chocolate factory in Hackettstown. The Mars company put up 18 acres of solar panels. The sun is expected to provide 20 % of the plant’s peak energy needs.
Their solar array was built by PSEG Solar Source and the output of the massive array is a full 2 MW of power during peak solar hours. The panels use is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by over a thousand metric tons.
We’re proud of you Mars!
