It seems that Memphis is in violation of the Clean Water Act.
In a period between 2005 & 2007 the waste treatment plant reported over a thousand overflows totaling 23 MILLION gallons of raw sewage that leaked into streets, yards as well as the mighty Mississippi. There was also a breakage in 08 that leaked an additional 45 million gallons.
It’s reported that the evening stench alongside the river can be unbearable.
Maybe Mud Island needs a new name…
