Chesapeake Employee Garden

Come early morning, lunchtime and after working hours, you might catch a glimpse of a Chesapeake Energy employee tending the vegetable garden near downtown OKC. The employee garden takes up a full city block and contains over 60 raised beds holding vegetables, flowers and herbs.

There are storage sheds, compost bins, drip irrigation and a produce washing station.

Presently almost 400 employees are participating in the garden program.

Excess food is donated to nearby charities.

Prairie Dinner- Green Connections

Green Connections, a non-profit that supports the sustainability work at Turtle Rock Farm retreat center, is holding its second annual Prairie Dinner and Concert, Oct. 2.

Kamala Gamble is chef for the local foods dinner and Kyle Dillingham, of Oklahoma’s Horseshoe Road, will be in concert at the round-top barn. Tour of the farm and retreat center begins at 3 p.m. A fund-raiser, the elegant dinner is set alongside Doe Creek, on the farm.
