Test Drives

Monday, July 26th, 2010

I was recently given the op to test drive a new car for a month as part of a blog program. I had to pass at this time, TOO much going on. But it did get me thinking about different cars and got me wondering what kind of car I could have driven.

Could I have been given the op to drive a big honkin monster truck? Not likely. I would imagine that I would have been given a Hybrid. Hybrids are such ‘in’ cars these days, but many of them don’t get much better gas mileage than a regular car/suv or even some sports cars.

Hybrids presently range in mpg of a low 17-19 for a high end brand, to about 40 for a main brand. Shoot I used to get that in my old VW!!!

The Mitsubishi Outlander is stylish but gets in the 20’s for it’s mpg. How about a sporty Porsche Boxer? It too has mpg in the 20’s.

Want to feel safe? You might try Volvo c70 . It too gets comparable mileage to the sporty boxer and the Outlander.

Since I turned the month long test drive down, I’ll never know. Now, I just want to beat myself up about it! Who can be ‘that’ busy that they’d turn down such a generous offer? Apparently, me.
