Rainwater Pillow

Friday, March 27th, 2009

What is a rainwater pillow? Well it’s great big ‘couch cushion’ shaped plastic container to store water. It’s designed to be stored out of the way in spots like under the bed, or under your deck.

They range in sizes to store from between 1000 gallons all the way up to 40,000 gallons of rainwater. They’re like a giant rain barrel!

You capture rain just as you would with the typical gutter and rain barrel system. The pillow system has a couple of overflow outlets to prevent overfilling.

The rainwater pillow is the perfect answer for anyone wanting to harvest and use rainwater. Perfect for drought areas, great for saving money on water costs. They’re pricey, they start at $2500 for the 9×11x 2.5 one, but an exception value over the long haul.

They’re made in Alpharetta Georgia. You can find them at RainwaterPillow.com.

Faux Green Grass

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

I heard that sprucing up some foreclosed homes helps them to sell. Makes sense.

I saw where some locales are renting out the spaces cheap so that the homes remain in a lived in condition. Some foreclosed homes are going a different route. They’re leaving them empty but greening the grass.

No, they aren’t paying for lawn services, instead, they are hiring firms that essentially dye the grass green! It costs about $200, is environmentally safe, and lasts for about 3 months.

I suppose that’s one option for homes that have no one to water or maintain the lawn.
